Judge Carr Banner

Cief LAnsdowne Endorses Judge Carr
Former San Jose
Police Chief William Lansdowne introduces Judge Carr when she announces her candidacy:

“Judge Dolores Carr
brings some unique characteristics to the District Attorney’s Office. She has an institutional memory of the organization because she worked there. She has an understanding of the court system because she’s a judge.

“But she brings something that I believe is even more important. She’s approach-able. She listens. She understands how to work in a diverse community. And she brings the gift that few people in public office have: She brings the compassion of understanding...”

Widespread Community Support

“Although the DA’s race is nonpartisan, Judge Carr has attracted support from individuals and interests who do not generally agree politically. She has been endorsed by prominent Democrats and Republicans, people from diverse ethnicities, liberals and conservatives, public defenders, attorneys from the DA’s office, and a tremendous number of attorneys from the private bar within Santa Clara County.

“What’s most important to me is the widespread support she has from law enforcement. These are the people who must work most closely with the DA’s office to build legitimate cases for prosecution. The fact that so many law enforcement personnel support Judge Carr speaks strongly about their level of confidence in her abilities…”

Thomas Wheatley
Assistant Chief (ret)
San Jose Police Department

Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office

There have been two District Attorneys in Santa Clara County over the past 24 years. One endorses Judge Carr. The other, our current District Attorney George Kennedy, has withdrawn his earlier endorsement of Judge Carr's opponent.

Additionally, Judge Carr's opponent from the primary election -- who is currently top prosecutor in the DA's Office under George Kennedy -- has endorsed Judge Carr.

Seven senior managers in the DA’s office, each of whom recently retired with 30+ years of in the office experience—and each of whom worked with and/or supervised both Judge Carr and her opponent—have unanimously endorsed Judge Carr. So have the former District Attorney and Judge Carr’s opponent from the primary election, who is currently top prosecutor in the DA’s Office.

Media Endorsements

Milpitas Post 11.2.06: Judge Dolores Carr deserves voter nod as our county's next district attorney

Matthew's Newspaper 10.26.06: The youngest publisher in the South Bay has this to say: "Matthew's Newspaper endorses Judge Dolores Carr because of her broad experience and her passion for fairness, as well as her ability to work well with so many other people."

Metro: Silicon Valley's weekly newspaper 10.25.06: Since prosecuting criminals involves teamwork between agencies, Carr's broad support is a sign that she can build bridges. The fact that Carr comes from outside an office that could benefit from reform is a plus. Carr seems the better choice... to become the county's top prosecutor.

Los Altos Town Crier 10.11.06: For our money, former county judge Dolores Carr is best qualified to run the 400-person Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office and its annual $68 million budget.
