JUDGE CARR RECEIVES 100 PERCENT OF ENDORSEMENTS BY LOCAL POLICE GROUPS

District Attorney candidate Judge Dolores Carr has succeeded in garnering 100 percent support of all endorsing police associations in Santa Clara County, she announced today.

Campbell, Gilroy, Los Gatos, Milpitas, Morgan Hill, Mountain View, Palo Alto, San Jose, Santa Clara Police Officers' Associations, the Deputy Sheriffs' Association and Sunnyvale Public Safety Officers' Association have all pledged support of Carr, joining such major law enforcement agencies as the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), California Narcotic Officers Association, California Organization of Police and Sheriffs (COPS) and the National Latino Peace Officers Association, Santa Clara County Founding Chapter.

"As police officers, the Gilroy POA understands that cooperation between the District Attorney, the DA's entire office, and the public safety community directly affects the quality of life in our community," said Gilroy POA President Sgt. Wes Stanford in a June press release. "We believe Judge Carr's experience in private practice, as a successful member of the District Attorney's office, and most recently her tenure as a well-respected Superior Court Judge make her the best candidate for District Attorney."

Jose Salcido, president of the Central Coast Chapter of PORAC, cited Carr's integrity and her ability to "work effectively with law enforcement" in a February press release. "Judge Carr is honest and forthright. She conveys her views and expectations very effectively. She has a history of treating police officers fairly without playing favorites — and has a reputation for being tough on crime while upholding the rights of defendants. She understands what the system needs to work effectively."

Since winning the primary election in June with 42 percent of the vote, Carr has also earned most endorsements by the county's senior DAs, local lawyers and retired judges, as well as the support of numerous community and business leaders.
